The first logic machine was invented in 1777 by Charles Mahon, the Earl of Stanhope. The 'logic demonstrator' was a pocket-sized device which solved traditional syllogisms and elementary questions of probability. Mahon's 'demonstrator' is the forerunner of logic components in modern-day computers.
